Troubleshooting
Fixes for the most common problems: Wi-Fi page not opening, paid but not connected, gateway offline, webhooks not arriving.
The Wi-Fi page doesn't open
- Make sure the phone is on your guest Wi-Fi, not another network.
- Open a plain website such as
neverssl.com. Some phones only show the page when a non-secure site is opened. - Check the gateway is Online on the location's page.
A customer paid but isn't connected
Open the payment under Payments. Its trail shows exactly where it stopped:
- Waiting for confirmation: the provider hasn't confirmed yet. Wispot re-checks automatically; most resolve within minutes.
- Failed or amount mismatch: the payment wasn't accepted, so no access was given. Refund it in your payment dashboard if money was taken.
- Paid, access created, but not online: ask them to reconnect to the Wi-Fi. If their device limit is reached, remove an old device from their customer page.
You can always give access from the customer's page as a goodwill fix.
Gateway stays offline
- Check the router has internet (can it ping
1.1.1.1?). - Check the WireGuard interface is running and its peer shows a recent handshake.
- Re-run setup from the location page if the setup token expired (tokens last 24 hours).
Payment notifications aren't arriving
- Compare the webhook URL in your payment provider with the one in Settings → Payments. It must match exactly.
- Test keys and live keys have separate webhook settings in Paystack, Flutterwave and Monnify. Set the webhook URL in both.
Still stuck? Email [email protected] with your location name and, for payments, the payment reference.
